Prevent Bathing Suit from Fading:
Rinse the Bathing Suit in Cold Water Immediately after Using: Whether you were on the beach or at a swimming pool, the bathing suit may have been exposed to substances such as chlorine or salt spray that can fade the suit if you don't rinse it well
Fill a Sink Basin with Clean, Cold Water: Add a mild detergent that states it won't fade colors -- just a teaspoon per gallon of water
Wash the Suit Gently by Hand: Do this by stirring the water and carefully rubbing the suit. There is no need to soak the bathing suit in the soapy water unless the suit has acquired a difficult stain
Let the Water Drain from the Sink: Rinse the bathing suit under the faucet with cold water so that no detergent residue remains
Dry the Bathing Suit Indoors: Bathing suits expose in the sunlight will fade. Open a window or turn on a fan to speed up drying. Wet cloth will develop a musty odor if not dried quickly in warm weather

Swimming Benefits During Pregnancy and Maternity Swimwear Recommendations
Swimming is one of the best exercises you can do while you are pregnant. For all trimesters of your pregnancy, swimming is safe and provides you with a low-impact exercise with excellent cardiovascular benefits and low risk of injury. Swimming improves your body's ability to process and use oxygen as well as improved circulation, endurance and better muscle tone. Swimming can also help you sleep better at night, relax your muscles and help you burn excess pregnancy calories
If you were a regular swimmer before pregnancy, then swimming while pregnant should be an easy transition. Remember to listen to your body and take it a little slower as you progress with your pregnancy so you do not overexert yourself as you are swimming for two now and your body has to work a lot harder than before. If you were not a regular swimmer before pregnancy, than check with your doctor or midwife first. You will need to take swimming gradually and listen to your body so you do not stretch your limits
In the cooler months you will probably be swimming in an indoor pool or outdoor heated pool. Make sure that you remember to stay well-hydrated, even in the cooler months when you do not think about cooling down. When you are pregnant your body requires more fluids, particularly during exercise. It is a good idea to drink before swimming, about every 20 minutes while swimming and then after swimming. Also avoid caffeine beverages as they will dehydrate you
If you are more of a light swimmer, the breast stroke is a good low-impact stroke to do when you are pregnant. This stroke makes it easy to get the oxygen you need and is a little less taxing on the body and lungs and easier to go a slower pace. Also the breast stroke can lengthen chest muscles and help align your back muscles which is particularly beneficial in your 3rd trimester when muscles in your back and chest can become misaligned
As you tummy expands as early as the first trimester, it is a good idea to invest in a maternity swimsuit that is suitable for lap swimming. One piece suits are usually your best bet rather than the fashion maternity suits such as babydolls and tankinis which can fly around you in the water and make it harder to swim with all the extra floating material. The simpler and sleeker the suit the better it is for allowing you to glide naturally through the water and provide less water resistance. Also, look for a suit that is very stretchy with room to expand in both the bust and belly as you will continue to grow in those areas over the nine months of your pregnancy
Some good one piece suits to consider are Prego's Empire Tank and Texture Heart Swimsuit. Both of these styles are stretchy one piece maternity swimsuits that are designed for actually swimming laps in the pool. Both are made with 20% lycra that will give you some room to grow where you need it. If you are in between sizes or unsure which size to get, it's best to buy up a size so you will have room to wear the suit for your entire pregnancy. Prego's Empire Tank suit has exceptional bust support with a bra-link band in the back and wide adjustable shoulder straps. Both suits can accommodate a range of bust sizes
If you were not a regular swimmer before, then you can try a kickboard, water aerobics or even just walking across the pool for low-impact water resistance exercise. Just about any style maternity swimwear would work for these types of pool exercises and are still a wonderful way to get a safe workout when pregnant. Some women prefer not to wear a strapless mini for pool exercising for obvious concerns. If the strapless mini is your preferred style, then look for one with a removable halter strap that you can wear in the pool for a little added security. Prego's Strapless mini is very well made with a secure and fitted design around the top that actual provides bust support and a detachable halter strap
So regardless of the season, check with your doctor about trying out swimming or pool exercises during your pregnancy for health benefits to both you and your baby
How to Swim During Pregnancy
What's not to like about an opportunity to feel weightless during an ever-growing pregnancy? Aside from that perk, swimming is a great way to build cardiovascular endurance, improve circulation and increase muscle tone and strength. Here are some ways to do it properly
Instructions
Get the greenlight from your OB/GYN or midwife. Because swimming is such a low-impact exercise and therefore carries minimal injury risk, most women can swim throughout their entire pregnancies
Plan to swim for 30 to 60 minutes each day. Swimming can be an effective workout by itself or in combination with a walking/running routine. (For example, you may want to alternate your high/low impact days.) As your pregnancy progresses, you may focus on more swimming than running
Buy a comfortable swimsuit. If you can get by with a standard suit, go for it, but many of today's maternity suits are both attractive and practical. Remember, the main goal here is comfort. When the elastic begins to feel tight, start shopping. The last thing you need is to become chafed in an area you can no longer reach
Practice your breaststroke. The breaststroke focuses on your chest and back, two areas that are prone to misalignment during pregnancy. If you feel pressure on your neck when you bob up for air, try using a snorkel
Roll over and try a backstroke. With the water as your gravity-defying cushion, you can lie on your back and do the backstroke without risking the impaired blood flow that similar on-land exercises can cause
If you feel fatigued, try adding a kickboard into the mix. Every other lap, use a kickboard and let your arms rest while your legs kick. (If you have back pains doing this, try holding the kickboard farther out in front of you.)
Another rotation option: In between laps, stop and do leg lifts or arm curls against the wall or walk the length of the shallow end. Water's natural resistance forces your body to work even when doing small movements
How to Buy the Right Maternity Bathing Suit
Instructions
In shopping for maternity clothes, finding the right maternity bathing suit is important for pregnant women who choose to swim to keep in shape or just want to look good at the beach or on a cruise
Also, as swimming is the best exercise when you're pregnant. I swam up until 2 days before my delivery! The swimming kept my body toned and I didn't have any stretch marks or extra weight to lose after my baby was born
First, you want to make sure that the fabric the maternity bathing suit is made out of is correct. The best, most stretchy fabric is called Tricot, but that usually isn't advertised. Normally, the fabric content will say "80% nylon, 20% spandex", which is the best ratio of spandex - 20%. Spandex and Lycra are the same fabric, which is the stretch fiber, with Lycra simply being the trade name for spandex. If it is less than 20% spandex, it won't be stretchy enough
Also, it should stretch in both directions, and be advertised as a 4-way stretch
Next, you should look for a suit that has ties and not clasps. Ties around the neck will accommodate your growing bust (if it does) and ties around the back will accommodate your growing belly (that's a definete yes
Whether it be a 2-piece or a one-piece, ties around the neck will fit you better. If it's a one-piece, make sure it has a pleat at the center front so that it can accommodate your growing belly, or else the fabric has to be the most stretchy you have ever encountered
PREGABELLI MATERNITY carries very nice styled maternity one-piece swimwear, with a box pleat at the front, just under the bust and back neck ties. The fabric is super stretchy on all our one piece suits
Pretty patterns and colors will camouflage your tummy as others will see the beautiful patterns on the fabric and not see your tummy as much. Solid (one-color) fabrics will not hide your belly as well. That may be fine with you, as it's all up to you the look you want
Some women like to wear bikinis and have their entire stomache sticking out, but many women don't
Choose colors that look good on you in regular clothes and that flatter your complexion. As swimming really is the best exercise during pregnancy, as it has no impact on your body (like jogging) you definetely need the right maternity bathing suit if you plan on swimming throughout your pregnancy
Other Thoughts: I love this suit. It fits well, covers well, and is just about perfect. The only thing different I would change would be to have adjustable straps or have an underwire. I could use some extra support.
Other Thoughts: This swimsuit is really flattering and covers all the right areas, as well as being comfortable for a pregnant woman! I really like it & would highly recommend it. It was also shipping very quickly.
Other Thoughts: Very nice bathing suite. Only complaint is that the sizing is based on what we normally wear when not preggers. Not sure they took chest expansion into account as the elastic below the breasts is a little tight. Since the rib cage expands a bit with pregnancy they should loosen it up a bit.
Other Thoughts: I purchased this swimsuit early in my pregnancy when I couldn't wear my normal suit any more. I looked all over for a swimsuit that I could still swim laps in. I wore this suit throughout my entire pregnancy and it worked great
