Anti-Static Methods:
Ground Yourself - Before working on your computer, you can touch a bare metal surface to ground yourself and discharge static electricity from your body. Common places you can touch include bare metal inside the computer case, the hard drive cage, and the power supply
Anti-Static Wrist Strap - If repeatedly grounding yourself is too tedious, you can wear an anti-static wrist strap. Attach one end of the strap to your wrist and the other to bare metal on your PC case for automatic protection from static charge. An anti-static strap is a good investment if you perform regular maintenance on your computer
Anti-Static Mats and Bags - Use anti-static mats if you need a temporary place to store components while you are working on your computer. Set hardware parts on top of these mats to block the transmission of static charge

Other Thoughts: These come in so handy around the house. I'll pop them over my shoes when coming in from yard to work to grab a drink, no longer have to take off the shoes first or dragging in any grass or dirt. Also when painting around the house, slip then on when stepping off a drop cloth and no paint path.

Other Thoughts: I used wirelss anti static bracelet before but it doesn't really work. I still get electric shot weird, guessing somewhere is leaking in my old place. And this gloves will defenitely block you from directly touching the component. It gets the job done well. I will recommend it.

Other Thoughts: Once, while doing maintenance a simple plug out plug in of my sata drive fried it !! Yes a SMART error eventually.. SO I decided that I should go in for a anti static instrument. Initially I was thinking of the wrist band. Then I was wondering if it really worked and where am I gonna hook it. So I bought this glove and it is pretty great.

Other Thoughts: Rubberized dots do give grip. Does not fry anything! I'm not an expert in electronics, but due to episodic CPU repair jobs, I decided to get a pair of these gloves. The material is good quality, the gripping dots are nice and the overall construction is such that it appears that these will last for a while.

Other Thoughts: Lightweight gloves. Rubber grips really helps; when handling tiny screws it *almost* feels as if you're using your real hands. Its not waterproof. I wonder how that affects insulation if your palms become sweaty due to prolonged work.
